Body mind soul time allocation app idea.
- Soul Time Tracker
- Priorities
- One List - Prioritized To-Do List & Task Manager

- Google Calendar
Another app idea…
How do you organise your time?
Fitness, work, piano, time with friends and family, building a new start up on the side, commuting to work.
How do you fit it all in and remain focused? How do you make sure you won’t burn out?
Here’s an app that might help.
The prioritisation myth
What I’ve found is that my problem is not “do I have enough time?!?!”. Instead, I’ve found that my problem is not knowing what to do with the extra 1.5hrs I have at odd times of the day. After work. Before bed. In the morning.
How much free time do I really have?
If we look at a given week here’s how it might break down.
Setup ideas
- Days: 7
- Hours in a day: 24hrs
- Total Available Time: 168hrs
Blockout:
- Sleeping: 9 * 7 = 63hrs
- Work (with commute): 47hrs
- Family & Friends: 15hrs
Total: 125hrs
Available Time: 43hrs
“What could I do with 43 hours of free time every week? Hmmm…
Potential Allocations:
- Fitness: 5 * 1hrs = 5hrs
- Startup: 10 * 1.5hrs = 15hrs
- Piano: 5 * 1.5hrs = 7.5hrs
- Cleaning: 2 * 1hrs = 2hrs
Required Time: 29.5hrs
Get real with what is achievable
With work and the above fitness, startup, family and friends, piano and chores above I am still left with time to unwind.
What if we made an app that helped you frame a given week in this way. and then prompted you to complete the most pressing task given the amount of available.
Something to help you know what to work on next given it’s Thursday evening and you have too much on your plate.
Everything is important!
Another thing I’ve noticed is that everything is important. Prioritisation is driven by amount of time required and amount of time available rather than “friendships” being more important than “fitness”.
There is time…
Just tell me what to do next
With all this information would it be possible to build an app that simply tells you want you should be doing next based on the available time remaining and the amount of work a given project request.
Risks. Costs.
- Build time: 30hrs
- Competition: Lots but nothing exactly the same. Google calendar has many similar options.
- Sale price: low. $1. limited sale potential.
- Stickiness: low. easy to throw away.
- Complexity: low. easy to try out and see.
