If a person or a group of people continually present themselves to me I find this helps.

I might be replaying a particular conversation. Perhaps a meeting didn’t go as I had planned and I’m fixated on a particular comment someone made.

To help myself detach, I settle into 10 minutes of meditation. I take the particular person of group in focus. I physically pick them up off the ground. Lifting them up into the air and carefully placing them on a beautiful desert island. I then clear the clouds, letting sun to shine on them to keep them warm. Once they are settled, I turn away.
