If the days events just seem to be a constant barrage of noise, I find this helps.
It might be that I haven’t been able to find a clean slice of uninterrupted time all day. Perhaps I just haven’t had any space to myself. Maybe I’m stuck on the subway.
To help myself detach, I settle into 10 minutes of meditation.
I imagine I’m in a room surrounded by noisy people. Person a train car full of loud smelly passengers bumping into one another carelessly. I feel the weight of the chaos. When I’m ready, I imagine click my fingers, and seeing the entire room emptying in a flash.
I find this works well when I have my eyes closed and I’m wearing noise cancelling headphones.
